“A Picture is Worth 1,000 Words”, The Story Behind This Photo…..
August 12th, 2012 by Joe BurgessAround a year ago, the photo for the MLive Sunday Bulletin changed. It may not have been noticed by many readers, but there was a reason behind it.
When you operate a public medium (like MLive) there’s a certain amount of your personal life that you have to include; but there is also a limit.
Although only very close friends (and folks who read local church bulletin prayer lists) knew it, Sue (my wife) had a severe heart attack just over a year ago, spending two weeks in Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. After a double-bypass and a “valve job”, she was released, to come home and continue recovery.
MonticelloLive was posted twice every day, as usual, from the hospital, since “business MUST go on.” (My Iphone and BMC wi-fi were awesome.)
But when your nights are spent on a waiting room couch, and you don’t know if they’ll even be able do perform surgery, there are few sources of comfort to be found. But there was one place I found……
The photo change took place so that every Sunday, I would go back to that same place of comfort I used for those two long weeks. The Prayer Chapel at Baptist Medical Center.
I hope that you can see the light and love of my Saviour, Jesus Christ, shining through, like I did then, and still do today.

Thanksfor shaing that bit of testimony this morning Brother, just want to hi and that we miss you.
Thanks for sharing this with us, Joe. I also found comfort in that same chapel when my father passed away at Baptist Medical Center. When you are called on to be the strong one in a situation, it helps to have a quiet place to give your burdens to God. Your story reminded me that I just need to ask and the strength will be there.
God Bless You. Pray that your wife is better.
Thank you for sharing your story. Now, the photo will always remind me of this story and the beautiful meaning(s) behind it.
I too spent time there when my son Chip was in the hospital last October. A special place to allow God just to wrap His arms around you and bring you the peace you need during those hard times. thanks for the memory.
I enjoyed your story Joe. I spent six and one half months in that facility. did not enjoy much of it but the chapel was a special area for me and my family, Hope your wife is much bwetter Jerry
Thanks Joe. It is a very beautiful quite place to go have a talk with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Same as some of you have already stated; I spent time in that very Chapel at Baptist while my Mama, Sara, was in and out of there with her battle against cancer. I believe that not only in the Chapel at Baptist do you feel His presence but throughout that entire hospital; it is a wonderful place for those of us who need it.
