MonticelloLive Reader Sees Story-Calls Sheriff-Solves Crime
April 21st, 2008 by Joe BurgessAccording to Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober, one of MonticelloLive’s readers called the Sheriff’s Dept. this weekend after seeing the story about the break-in on Old Dermott Road (see original story below).
The man who called had recently purchased some items, and upon reading the article, realized that they had been stolen.
That phone call led to the arrest of Dale Walker, Jr. of Star City, formerly of Monticello, for commercial burglary and theft of property over $500. Walker’s bond hearing will probably take place later today.
According to investigator Rick Rausch, the stolen property has been returned to it’s owner.
Rausch wanted to thank the man who made the call, as well as MonticelloLive for getting the information out to the public so quickly, to help solve this crime.
