Mother-Daughter Lookalike Photo Contest Raises Almost $3,000 For Single Parent Student Scholarships
May 21st, 2021 by SubmittedArkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund recently hosted a Mother-Daughter Lookalike Photo Contest to fund scholarships in South Arkansas and Bowie County, TX. The contest winner was determined by the number of votes received. Votes were $1 each and all proceeds will fund scholarships for single parents who are pursuing a better life through the pursuit of post-secondary education or skilled trade certification. A total of $2,915.44 was raised through the contest.
The winning photo was titled “Green with Envy” and the Mother-Daughter duo included April Block and her daughter, Normandy, of Monticello. “Green with Envy” received 475 votes which translates to $475 to be used entirely for single parent student scholarships. When April was notified of the win, she said they did not enter to win the prize, but to help support the fundraiser. She said, “I know people who have received the single parent scholarship. This was a way we could help.” April and her daughter were presented two $50 gift cards to BJaxx Accessories in Texarkana (or online) and a $50 gift card to Texas Roadhouse.
