October 2nd, 2017 by iPhoneAn email scam is currently contacting area residents, claiming to be affiliated with the trust of one or more recently deceased Monticello business leaders.
Family members are aware of the situation, and encourage everyone to ignore these emails.
”It is just an attempt to get your credit card number,” said a family member, after receiving multiple calls from friends. .
Authorities are investigating the situation and an update could be available next week.
I recived the email on Friday night concerning a life long friend who passed away a few weeks ago there in Monticello. wasn’t sure who or how they got my email. The name on the email states, Anthony Abraham Esq. Please note there was no name of a lawyer, law office or anything, plus it request that you keep the email hush hush as the person whose name you are supposedly mentioned in their will has asked that you do so. Then it ask you to either accept, decline or maybe later.
I knew right away it was a scam, but am concerned for those who might think it is legit. Again there is no contact information for this guy and when you do a search for his name, it will pull up the information stating it is a scam. BEWARE and be careful If you know someone please don’t let them accept as it is an attempt to gain your information.
