50 Years In Prison Plea for Crossett Man On Murder Charge, in Drew County Courtroom

A Crossett man accused in the July 2016 home invasion and murder of a Crossett woman, and the attempted murder of her granddaughter, entered a guilty plea in Drew County, this week.
Davonta Diquan Morris, 21, of Crossett, pled to aggravated residential burglary, two counts of aggravated robbery, attempted capital murder and one count of first-degree murder.
In the plea agreement, the first-degree murder charge was reduced from an initial charge of capital murder.
Morris will not be sentenced until co-defendant Carl Lavet Robinson Jr. accepts a plea or goes to trial, according to Tenth Judicial District deputy prosecutor Frank Spain, since part of his agreement is to testify in that case.
Robinson, 21, of Crossett, has a tentative trial date set in July.
Morris and Robinson were both arrested by Crossett police officers and accused in the Sunday, July 10 home invasion on the 500 Block of West 8th Avenue.
