McClendon Family Sells SeaArk Boats to Correct Craft

May 17th, 2016 by

imageAfter 58 years in the boat-building business, the McClendon family has completed a deal to sell their recreational boat company, SeaArk Boats, to Correct Craft, a Florida-based company with global operations headquartered in Orlando.

Robin McClendon, former President and owner of SeaArk Boats, commented on the sale, “After fifty-eight years in the marine industry, it is a bitter-sweet decision for the McClendon Family to exit the recreational boat-building business, but we believe that we have found the right owner in Correct Craft. They are a great company and share our vision of building a quality product and offering excellent customer service”.

Correct Craft has indicated that they plan to keep the SeaArk Boats Factory and employees in Monticello, which was a major consideration in the decision to sell according to McClendon. “The fact that the Correct Craft Management team understands the importance of the SeaArk Boats Family to our community and the skill of these craftsmen, makes a difficult decision much easier to make”, McClendon noted. “SeaArk Built for a Lifetime Boats is a successful company today because of the many dedicated and talented team members who have worked hard to help our company thrive. I am very grateful to have worked alongside these people and I know that our team members, as well as our legacy, are in good hands with the Correct Craft team!”

Correct Craft’s President and CEO Bill Yeargin stated, “SeaArk Boats is an outstanding company with a strong brand, great reputation, and exceptional team; we could not be happier to have them joining our Correct Craft family.” Yeargin added, “The McClendon family has done a wonderful job for decades and we are honored that they would trust their brand, legacy, and employees to Correct Craft. We are thrilled to work together with the SeaArk team in Monticello to continue to grow the company.”

Zach McClendon, co-founder of MonArk Boats and patriarch of the SeaArk boat-building family noted that the new owners bring over 90 years of boat-building experience to Monticello, “I thought we had been in the marine business a long time at 58 years, but Correct Craft has been around since the twenties!”.  He continued, “Our family has been extremely fortunate to be able to build boats in Monticello all these years. We appreciate all of the good people that have worked for us over that time and we look for the new owners to do great things with SeaArk Boats as we hand over the keys”.  The sale does not include any assets of SeaArk Marine, former builder of commercial work and patrol Built for a Lifetime boats and does not directly affect any current contracts or agreements that SeaArk Marine, Inc. has in place.

The Correct Craft family includes several boat companies including Nautique, Centurion, Supreme, Yar-Craft and Bass Cat. For more information on the company visit www.correctcraft.com.
