KKK Rally Draws Small Crowd, Little Protest

Saturday night’s Ku Klux Klan rally, held northeast of Monticello, drew a small crowd of supporters, 1 protester, a 6-8 peace & love” signs on the town square.
The most impressive factor that took place during the weekends activities was the massive police presence in Drew county, by ALL law enforcement agencies. (See related article.)
MLive declined to post the initials KKK or the name Ku Klux Klan prior to the event, in order to “Google proof” out of state supporters and protesters from coming to our community for “activist” reasons.
The photo posted above was taken Saturday night in Drew County. The rally began around 10 PM, ended before midnight, and consisted of a small ceremony followed by burning a large cross, estimated to be a 20 foot tall, by a group of 8–12 men in full cover robes.
During the week leading up to the rally, most local citizens refused to take sides on potential racial issues; but rather united in opposition to the KKK coming to the Monticello area, while accepting that they had the legal right to do so.
Facebook rumors of retaliation from other national political groups proved false.
However the meeting prayers for God’s grace, to protect our community in residents, were heard.

I haven’t lived in Arkansas for almost 25 years so I’m sure it has changed in many ways other than physically but when I lived there I know the KKK was alive and well. I knew several members who worked in the building industry. We were making an effort to reach the African American community in the church I pastored in a nearby town. One Sunday morning a man attended our service and wouldn’t give me his name but one person in the congregation knew him. Later that week the KKK member who I knew that worked in construction asked me if So in So attended our church last Sunday. I said yes. HE then told me he was a representative of the KKK and was checking us out to see if we actually had any N******* in our church. That particular morning we didn’t. He then told me they had members in high places in just about every church in Drew County and if I’d agree not to try reach African Americans and if I’d follow the teachings of the KKK they’d fill my church for me and make me successful. I imagine over the years many of the die hard followers have died off. I know the man I knew died a few years ago. But when I lived there they had a presence.
Just wondering who flipped the bill for all the security or was it free
Heck with the KKK why do they want to hurt us took a innocent your man life for no reason at all I do miss him from been in mcdonald praying mfor his family and his son????????????????
