now we know who started the finger pointing. I wouldn’t say “im sorry” either if I didn’t feel like someone deserved it.

  2. leah says:

What is wrong with the judge just saying “I’m sorry”. I have watched both times with this gentleman and his daughter and I think a lot could have been solved with just a simple apology.

  3. Eric Davis says:

Government working like it should.Citizen confronts where he thought where he was wronged. The Qurom Court apology. Good citizen and a good court. Thats why I like Monticello.Good American people at it’s best.
In the city of Monticello you are required to have your trash basically
picked up the same way.If my trash container is stolen, the city says I have to pay $60.00 for the replacement and still what about the liability of an accident ? Good question Mr. Myers. I want my letter from the city relieving me of responsibility.LOL.

  4. Jen says:

Oh my….I think its completely obvious that Judge Akin did verbally assault and totally disrespect Mr. Myers on the day of the event that occurred. Mr. Myers had every right to be upset in that meeting and no he never got the answer he was after. Public Officials, especially those elected, should be very humble and helpful to their constituents not arrogant and with an above the law attitude which is what I seen in our Judge. Also, a few of the court members seemed agitated that Mr. Myers was even there…..are they really looking out for Drew County??

  5. leah says:

Frankly I don’t care who pointed their finger first. Respect is respect regardless. Mr. Myers is 81 years old. You don’t talk to someone like that even if he did point his finger first. Professionalism should have been expected from the judge. That’s his job.

  6. Tommy says:

The way I see this–if the gentleman (or his family) would have followed the ordinance this would have never been an issue and a confrontation would have never happened. Ordinances are passed by the quorum court and have to be enforced by the Judge. For the 2 QC members that apologized—get real. You are the ones that passed the ordinance. If you aren’t going to support the guy in charge of enforce the laws that you passed and you expect someone to not respond after the way this family acted and is still acting??–I’m glad I don’t have to work with you. The Judge did say he could have handled things differently BUT he was correct in confronting them. Gutless individuals apologize/coward down when confronted–leaders won’t and don’t need to apologize when they “do right” and make others follow what is the law—even when it’s the easiest thing to do (even in something as trivial as taking out the trash)

  7. Adam j. Meier says:

“Now we know who started the finger pointing”? Were you there? I was at the end of my driveway putting trash in my trash can when the judge pulled up and when he got out of his truck I could tell from where i stood 300 meters away that his posture was hostile. I am a combat veteran and have had plenty of experience reading body language and his was not passive from the start! The fast rate of speed he pulled into the drive, the speed in witch he opened the door and exited the vehicle, the volume of his voice, and the invasion of personal space were very clear. I cannot testify to what was said and by whom but could hear the volume and tone so I knew it was getting out of hand. It was only a minute or two when another truck pulled up driven by the husband/son in law that things started to calm and just moments later the judge and his passenger left the residense and even waived at me on his way by. So please, by all means, if you seen or heard anything that I missed feel free to post those facts that you would be willing to stand by in a court of law in your comments.

  8. james c says:

akin looks like a bully who just got confronted…i think he forgets he is our employee….we pay him and we can fire him….akin looked like a coward..

  9. Patty Mitchell says:

“Tommy” is welcome to his opinion. But in my world, an elected official would not disrespect anyone in the county he was elected in. I was not there….Tommy was not there….so there is no need trying to figure out what was actually said and done. I know that if you come on my property without being asked to, you are trespassing. It would not show cowardice to apologize…it would show respect to an 84 year old man who, right or wrong, feels that he has been wronged. And I am very glad that I don’t have to work with Tommy either. But here’s where I am different….I sign my name so you know who I am and where I stand. I am a lot of things, but coward is not one of them. Are you afraid of putting your real name on your comments?

  10. KW says:

This seems to be the only public publishing of what county residents should know is the usual, argumentative, bull-headed, I-am-the-boss-and-I-am-the-only-one-who-is-right, attitude of our current county judge. When is someone fair going to run against Judge Akin so that we can have decent representation? I am embarrassed by the perception that other local, county, and state entities probably form about Drew County from our current judge.
