Guns Stolen in Multiple Vehicle Break-ins – 4 pm Update

June 24th, 2013 by

zBetween Saturday night and Monday morning,  at least 5 Hyatt Street residences had reported having vehicles broken into.

Most of the vehicles were unlocked, but one vehicle was forcefully entered.

At least two handguns were taken, during the theft spree.

Thefts were reported from South Hyatt, North Hyatt, and Parkwood.

Please be sure to lock you vehicle doors, this is a major factor that thieves consider when breaking into automobiles.

Anyone who sees, or has seen any suspicious vehicles or persons is asked to call Monticello Police at 367-34111.

  1. Army Vet says:

C’mon out you thieving punks. We’re waiting for you.

  2. Dragonheart says:

This is a good example of people not being responsible with where they keep their guns. Left in your car and now how will you sleep tonight knowing your gun may have fallen into a child’s hands or an idiots. Keep your guns on you or at home, never leave them in your auto. Real smart.

  3. One of the victims says:

To the cowards who did this and caused so many of us alot
Of trouble and money, You should turn yourself in or hope that you
Get caught by the police first before you get caught in a bad
Situation by the right kind of person that does tolerate a low down theif and takes appropriate acts of defending their personal property if you can read between the lines. I know i will if you should find yourself back on my property!!

  4. victim says:

This is what’s wrong with society today. Now its the law abiding citizen’s fault for leaving their own firearm in their own vehicle on their own property. The fact is that being a thief is getting popular. Sleep all day and steal from the working people at night with low risk. We need to make it less attractive by making examples of the “idiots”. Just a word to you thieves, get a job while you still have the chance.

  5. concerned says:

I agree. I work hard, pay taxes, and never rely on the government to bail me out. Only to find someone has stolen what I work hard to obtain. So now it’s MY fault that someone “borrowed” my belongings. Get a grip and understand that (I am tweaking a common line) criminals do not have freedom. When they choose to break a law, they give up their rights since they took away the rights of others. It’s a shame that if the person who had their stuff stolen caught and roughed up the thief, THE HOMEOWNER would probably be prosecuted. I love my country and I love Monticello, I also love my right to defend myself, and heaven help the sap that trots in my home with the intent of helping themselves…I don’t ask questions and dead men don’t tell tales.
