Circuit Clerk Decides Not to be Sworn In – Quorum Court Expected to Declare Position “Vacant”
January 1st, 2013 by iPhonePat Scifres Montgomery, Drew County, Circuit Clerk who took a leave of absence after an audit led to charges being filed against her, has decided not to be sworn in, this morning.
In a Quorum Court meeting, following the ceremony, the county board is expected to declare the position “vacant.”
Mrs. Montgomery posted her fecision on FaceBook, Monday morning, saying,
“After soul searching, I will not be sworn in as circuit clerk tomorrow. It is not something I do not want to do but I feel I must do. My job has been a highlight in my life and I was honored to serve as circuit clerk. I’m proud of the way my office operated but I must move on and let the office move forward.”
