Numerous Drew County Deputies responded to the false 911 call, reporting a man with a shotgun at the River Bar & Restaurant.
The call came into Monticello dispatch around 11:30 pm, New Year’s Eve.
Within two minutes, deputies arrived on the scene. No weapon was located, but officers did speak to a suspicious customer, outside of the building.
Steve Smith , age 44, of Bolling St., as well as a Little Rock address was taken into custody for a False 911 report and public intoxication.
As it turns out, Smith made up the story of the man with a shotgun, so that he could get a ride home when officers arrived.
Smith was taken to the county jail, not to his residence
Smith has since been released from custody.
