Victim in Fatal Car Crash, At Bayou Bartholomew, Identified – Video of Search

At 4:23, p.m., Thursday evening, the McGehee police department received an emergency call about a vehicle that had driven off of the bridge on Highway 278, driving towards Monticello, landing in Bayou Bartholomew.
Emergency responders and rescue crews from multiple counties arrived, and began searching for the driver.
The highway was closed in both directions during the search, until approximately 8:30 PM.
Arkansas State Police, AG&F, McGehee police & fire, Tillar & Halley fire depts., Monticello fire & dive team, Drew County OEM, among others, responded.
The Dodge pick-up was removed from the water on the north side of the bridge. The search, after the truck was recovered, focused on the water and brush-growth on the south side of the bridge.
Several family members of the victim were on the scene, during most of the search attempt.
Shortly before 9:30 pm, Thursday night, the body of the victim, Willie T. Martin, age 55 of McGehee, was recovered on the south side of the bridge, by the search teams. No other information is available, at this time.
