7 am Apartment Fire & Monday Afternoon Cooking Fire Contained

At 6:51 am, the Monticello Fire Department was paged out to the report of an apartment fire, at the Oakview Apartments on W. Jackson St.
The fire was contained to the kitchen, and is believed to have started on the stove, where a burner knob was accidentally bumped, turning the stove on.

A Monday afternoon fire, near Maple and Wood Street, was also a stove fire, believed to have been started when a burner was accidentally left on.
That fire was also contained to the kitchen, with minor damage.
