48 Unit Apartment Complex to be Built on Midway Rt.
March 17th, 2016 by iPhoneShown here are the proposed drawings and plans for a new 48 unit apartment complex, scheduled to be built on a 15 acre tract on Midway Route, near S. Main St.
The apartments, which will be known as The Vineyards at Monticello, will consist of two 3-story apartment buildings, with 24 apartments each. There will also be a clubhouse (with a fitness and business center), a bbq area, and a playground.
Groundbreaking will likely be in July, and completed in around a year, and have street access through Midway Route.
Rich Smith Development described it as “affordable income” with some “market rate” units. The combination is called “moderate income,” with family and elderly residents.
The community will include 1, 2, & 3 bedroom apartments. The Rich Smith Company will be owners and operators, as well as the builders.
While speaking with company representatives, they emphasized that this is a long-term investment, and went on to describe the application process (which includes background checks and other similar requirements).
They have built and still own and (on-site) manage over 70 similar units, around the country.

I hope they know this is on a truck route!
That is one of the highest big truck traffic areas in Monticello.
Midway Route to Old Troy cannot handle an increased traffic flow without Major repairs. Rain water runs down the road because the ditches haven’t been cleaned out in ages. Maybe we should ask the prison crew to help with that.
