4 Chip Cars Derail North of HWY 278 near Saline River
August 8th, 2014 by iPhoneAccording to confirmed sources, on July 30 at approximately 9 pm, 4 railroad cars, loaded with wood chips, derailed and overturned, just across the Saline River near HWY 278.
No one was injured, and the only spillage was wood chips.
The cars involved included 4, 5, & 6, of more than a dozen railcars.
Following the required investigation, clean-up began, and the track was back in operation within 48 hours, at the “Warren Turn” for Arkansas Midland.
Although unofficial, some reports from the scene indicate that the derailment was possibly due to track failure.
