3 Year Old Murdered in Chicot County
November 3rd, 2017 by iPhoneOn October 31st at approx. 6:36 p.m. Chicot County Sheriff’s Dept. was notified that a 3 year female had been brought into the Chicot Memorial Medical Center emergency room by her mother & grandmother with severe injuries.
The patient’s name was Journee Orji.
Doctor’s & staff worked on Journee and notified Arkansas Children’s Hospital, who air lifted Journee to Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.
After interviewing Journee’s mother, Jasmine Evans, who resides on Hwy. 144 West near Lake Village, she stated that her boyfriend, Jeffery Tucker, had spanked Journee at the residence earlier in the day.
After recieving that information, and that Tucker had left the address in Jasmine’s vehicle, a notification was put out to surronding agecies on the vehicle & Tucker.
Jeffery Tucker was taken into custody in Eudora at approx. 11:08 p.m. that night by the Chicot County Sheriff and Deputies.
Journee Orji died from her injuries at 4:05 p.m. Nov. 1st 2017
at Arkansas Chidrens Hospital.
A probable cause hearing & first appearance for Jeffery Tucker
was held in Chciot County Cicuit Court on Nov. 2nd with the honorable Judge Sam Pope presiding.
Jeffery Tucker was charged with Capital murder, no bond, and ordered into the custody of the Chicot County Sheriff.
No court date has been set at this time for Jeffery Tucker, who will be held in Jefferson County Jail until trial date.
Chicot County Sheriff Ron Nochols, – “I know that many prayers have went up for Journee Orji over the past few days, I would like for us all to to keep her family in our prayers in the trying days ahead for peace & comfort.”
Nichols added, “I would also ask for your prayers for myself and my Deputies this has been a very emotional case for us all. I would like to add that behind the Badge, we are only human also.“
