MFD Fights 3 Fires in 3 Hours
September 1st, 2013 by Joe Burgess
The Monticello Fire Dept. had a hectic evening, Friday, battling 3 fires, between 6 – 8:30 pm.
Around 6 pm, the former furniture store at the intersecti0n of Edwards and Gaines sustained minor damage, due to a fire inside.
As the firefighters were rolling up their hoses, a Ford Bronco II on the Walmart parking lot was reported, ablaze. They quickly arrived and extinguished the flames.
Shortly after 8 pm, a residence in Western Pine called Monticello Dispatch, reporting a dryer fire, where damage was contained to that area, only.
That dryer fire was the MFD’s third time in under 3 hours.

Yet another reason to be so thankful for our fire department. I am so glad their new facilities are becoming a reality. God bless our fire fighters!
