3 Car Crash on 278 West at River

Approximately 715, Friday evening, a three vehicle accident occurred on Highway 278 W., near the entrance to the River bar.
Monticello Police responded quickly, followed by SEEMS and MASI ambulance services.
An estimated total of 8 passengers were transported to Drew Memorial Hospital by ambulance and personal vehicle.
No injuries appear to be life-threatening.
Sources at the scene believe that an older model Chevy pick-up struck the rear of a Dodge Charger, before colliding almost head-on with the Chevy Trailblazer.
All five lanes of traffic were blocked for just under an hour, due to the scattered wreckage.
JNA Towing, along with Rod’s and Reggie’s Wreckers cleared the highway.
