Fatality Accident Closes 277/278 Tillar Intersection, Last Night

At 7:39, Wednesday evening, Monticello and McGehee Fire Departments were dispatched to an entrapment at the intersection of Highway 277 & 278, commonly known as the Tillar turn.
According to the Arkansas State Police, an eastbound Freightliner failed to negotiate the curve, crossing into the oncoming path of a Ford Expedition, causing a head-on collision.
Crystal Gibson, age 41 of Monticello, was transported to McGehee Hospital for medical treatment, but passed away because of her injuries, soon afterwards.
Drew County Sheriffs deputies, OEM, MASI, and others responded to the call.
