The University of Central Arkansas Center for Community and Economic Development (CCED) has partnered with Entergy Arkansas (Entergy) to assist Arkansas communities with grassroots citizen engagement and technical assistance training through the Community Catalyst program.
Monticello has been selected as a Community Catalyst community along with Wynne, Searcy, Magnolia, and Harrison.
The Community Catalyst program helps train and engage citizens to develop small, actionable community and economic development goals that serve as a catalyst for longer-term economic development engagements and priorities. The CCED and Entergy are also partnering with the Mississippi State University John C. Stennis Institute of Government to facilitate the program.
In addition to the community and economic development work completed through the Catalyst program, selected communities will receive follow-up assistance from CCED and a $1,000 mini-grant to complete a community development project.
To kickstart the Community Catalyst program, Monticello will complete a community survey to understand citizen needs and priorities. The survey will identify areas of opportunity and specific projects citizens want to see addressed in Monticello. The results of this survey will shape the Community Catalyst process as it moves forward.
The Monticello Community Survey is live and will be open until January 22, 2021. Monticello citizens and citizens in the surrounding area are encouraged to participate in the survey. All survey responses are anonymous unless you choose to identify yourself.
Those who participate in the survey and provide their contact information will be entered for a chance to receive one of three $50 gift cards.
