Planning Commission Votes to Recommend Annexation to City Council – Videos
July 3rd, 2019 by iPhoneThe proposed City of Monticello annexation of nearby apartment complexes and neighborhoods is being done for multiple purposes. Those purposes include increased census count, in the 2020 census, as well as being able to provide sanitation city services, where water and sewer are already provided by the city.
When asked, our reporter was told that this annexation will have no effect on school district boundaries.
A board member asked if the proposed changes wouldn’t have any financial repercussions on the county, and was told that county millage would not decrease, because properties being annexed into the city. We were told later, but another source, that this would cause county sanitation revenues to decrease.
The planning commission agreed to recommend to the City Council, that these properties be annexed into the city limits of Monticello.
