Pirates Dedicate Tournament to Mr. Williams
March 7th, 2019 by iPhoneThe Drew Central boys basketball team plays for a chance of a second straight trip to the 3A State Finals on Saturday in Osceola.
Tip-off is at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Seminole Arena, the site where the Pirates have won two exciting games in the state tournament already, beating Rivercrest 73-65 in overtime on Tuesday in the opening round, and knocking off Booneville 45-44 on Thursday.
The Pirates will play either Harding Academy or Mayflower in the semifinal matchup on Saturday.
During this postseason run, the Pirates are honoring the late Billy Williams with specially-made T-shirts that dedicates the team’s play to their No. 1 fan. Shown in the photo is Zeb Trantham.
Williams was the school’s superintendent when he passed away in September 2018.
