Members of the Monticello Fire Department quickly responded to a request from the Ridgeway Apartments, yesterday afternoon, during the power failure.

A few residents of the facility were in the elevator, during the outage, and were safely removed without any issues upon MFD’s arrival.

Members of SEARK Reading Council recently nominated literacy leaders from Southeast Arkansas to be honored at this year’s Celebrate Literacy Spring meeting. (more…)

Ashley Marshall of Monticello, a nursing major at South Arkansas Community College, has accepted a Melba Tatom Nursing Endowed Scholarship to attend the school this fall.

The scholarship is funded through the SouthArk Foundation.
