Drew Central Chooses Mainline Health for School Based Clinic by 3-2 Vote
July 14th, 2017 by Joe Burgess
After months of discussion and consideration of two different proposals to provide a school-based health clinic for Drew Central schools, the board voted by 3-2 margin to go with the proposal from Mainline Health Systems.
The proposal from Monticello Medical Clinic and Drew Memorial Health Systems included a grant from the state. The grant request could cause an additional year delay, along with additional governmental involvement. These 2 factors seemed to have an affect on their proposal not being selected.
“Drew County ranks in the top 10 Arkansas counties for students with no insurance at all.”- Superintendent Billy Williams
“46% of Drew County children are in single-parent household. National average is 21%.” – Mr. Williams.
