At 11 AM, it has been snowing for at least 15 minutes.

The snowflakes are large, however due to temps being above freezing, they will not likely accumulate.

At last months Ashley County Quorum Court meeting, the budget committee presented a recommendation to the JP‘s, recommending waiving any past due balance for dispatching services for the city, provided by the county.

This was done with the understanding that they will move forward with a new, legal, “agreed to by both parties” contract, in the future.

After a 7-3 vote, the question of whether or not the 2/3 quorum was achieved.

JP Taylor recently resigned from the group, and his position was declared vacant at their last meeting.

This afternoon’s 2:30 meeting should declare the vote to be a 2/3 margin or not, based on the opinion of attorney David Harrod, as to whether the current quorum court is a 10 or 11 member board.

These are some of the many children who met Santa Claus, Tuesday night, at the museum following the Monticello Christmas parade.

This year Monticello and Drew Central basketball teams are joining forces to fight hunger in Drew County. Instead of bringing gifts for the 12 days of Christmas, the schools are asking you to help with this mission. Students and community members are asked to bring the food items for each day. Although it is a competition between schools, the real opponent is hunger.

According to our news partners at KTVE, a local man went on a shooting spree, Tuesday in Louisiana.

According to the West Monroe Police Department, a Monticello man was arrested at Riverbend Elementary School in reference to damage done to the school. (more…)
