“The Youth Minister of the Year Award was created in 2003 to honor individuals who have been outstanding in their service to young people through the youth ministry of the United Methodist Church in Arkansas.
Lori Fallon is a life-long United Methodist, who grew up in a small rural town in central Louisiana. Her career in the church launched when she completed a Disciple course, and soon after began working in the youth program at First United Methodist Church
in Monticello. She now works as a full-time director and minister for junior high and senior youth. (more…)
Simce we’ve spent so much of this week covering water, rain, and flooding; we might as well close the week out with these 2 unusual videos.
The videos include Thursday night’s broken water main, by a fire hudrant, shooting water into the middle of HWY 278 West. The other shows a flooded sewer drain on East Shelton Street, pushing water up, through a manhole cover.
Shown here are the proposed drawings and plans for a new 48 unit apartment complex, scheduled to be built on a 15 acre tract on Midway Route, near S. Main St.
A few years ago, some dogs presented to Monticello Animal Clinic with some strange problems. They were very lethargic, acted like they were sore, and lab work indicated a severe infection. But, they were non-responsive to treatment! (more…)

For at least the third time in 36 hours, a driver decided that the road closed sign did not apply to them, but found soon out they were wrong.
Drew County sheriffs deputies (again) forged through the water to assist the driver, who will receive a citation and a wrecker bill, as will anyone else who bypasses the road closed signs, and puts first responders and emergency workers at risk.
The Mississippi driver of the northbound blue Infinity was not injured, unlike her checkbook
According to Sheriff Mark Gober, around 3 am, the driver of this Woodfield Trucking (Camden) big rig was traveling east on Highway 35, in the Grace Loop area, near Dermott, when he drove around a Road Closed sign.
