During the opening day of the World Series, MLive’s Joe Burgess was in the press box to sing the Star Spangled Banner, before the first game at the sports complex.
When the CD of the Bahamas team had technical difficulties, several parents and supporters of the team performed the anthem, live, over the PA system at the park.

Around 9:30, Wednesday morning, the driver of this southbound log truck lost control of his loaded rig, causing it to overturn on a Drew County highway.
The City of Monticello recently won a motion to include “big brother” Siemens AG as an extended defendant in the $10 million federal lawsuit over the waterline/meter debacle.

As dry conditions are leading to more Fire Dept. calls to grass and woods fires around Drew County, we have these recommendations from Drew County OEM Michael Frisby and MFD Fire Chief Kelly Reid.
Frisby told MLive. The Fire Chief added,
When 15 World Series teams came to Monticello, each team brought with them a state flag from home.
There were 15 colorful flags, representing teams from Washington to Massachusetts to California to Alabama to Panama, blowing the wind; until a theif stole 13 of the flags, Saturday night.
