Friday morning, the Arkansas State Police learned the a Virginia murder suspect was believed to be in southeast Arkansas. Here is the report from ASP’s Bill Sadler.
Derrick Nichols, of Warren, impressed everyone at the Drew County Fairgrounds Lawnmower Raceway, with his 10.0 second time trial, the lowest ever in Monticello, Saturday afternoon.
Nichols’ mower was entered in the super-modified class.
Monticello Fire and Police Departments quickly responded to the call of a van on fire, located near All Time Fitness, behind Walmart, at 8:45, Saturday morning.

A local man was arrested, Thursday, on the probable charge of sexual indecency of a child, for events that took place, Sunday.
At 7:45, p.m., Thursday night, an 18 wheeler leaving Popeyes parking lot, into the mall entrance at Highway 425 struck a Centerpoint Energy gas meter. (more…)

The Monticello 9 year old All-Star team won the Arkansas USSSA All-Star State Championship over the weekend.
The team went undefeated, winning all games by 10 runs or more.
At 11:41, Monday night, the Montecilo Fire Dept. was paged out to Lakewood Etates, were a home was fully engulfed in flames up on their arrival.

The Fire Dept. used the event to honor the Dalsis family with a plaque, in memory of Charles “Pops” Dalsis, Sr., who passed in November. “Pops” was an assistant chief for the dept. for 23 years.
The plaque was presented to current assistant chief Darian Dalsis, Charles’ grandson, who is currently assitant fire chief..
The Monticello 9 year old All-Star team won the P2A Pre-State Warm-Up tournament, at Burns Park in North Little Rock, this past weekend.
They were a perfect 4-0 in tournament play winning a trophy and gold rings for all the players.
