Alvin Frederick Pamplin, Sr., 81 of Monticello, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Life Touch Hospice in El Dorado, Ar surrounded and supported by his loving family during the last days of his life.
He was born on August 6, 1933 in Portland, Ar to the late Voyde Vincent Pamplin, Sr. and Sara Thurlar Pamplin. He retired from Union Camp after 48 years, a US Army veteran having served his country for 3 years, and a member of Second Baptist Church of Monticello, Ar.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Frances Juanita Pamplin, one daughter, Linda K. Pamplin, three brothers; Alfred Pamplin, Edward Pamplin, and Voyde Pamplin, Jr., and two sisters: Jannie Hoch & Vera Mills.
Survivors include two daughters: Frances Ann Jenkins of Monticello and Donna Lynn Noble(Billy); three sons; Alvin Frederick Pamplin, Jr., Herman Vincent Pamplin both of Crossett, Roy Glen Pamplin(Tina) of Monticello, three sisters: Frankie Mc Kenzie, Marie Zulpo, Betty Carter; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Services were held Thursday, September 04, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church (Monticello). The Drew County Sheriff’s Office and the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division have been investigating a sexual assault case. The suspect was on parole at the time of the assault on the child.
Following week before last’s week’s heroic intervention that saved the life a a Watson Chapel football player in Pine Bluff, 4 local nurses were honored by the Monticello Schools, the Billie Booster Club, and the player they saved and his family.

Last Friday at approximately 5:40 PM Sheriff Mark Gober was traveling down Highway 172 when he observed a white Chevrolet Dually pickup parked partially in the northbound lane with the rear of the vehicle in the grass and the front of the vehicle touching the center line of the highway. As Sheriff Gober approached the vehicle it began traveling northbound.
Anna Sue Pool Aaron, 78 of Tillar, Arkansas was born October 27, 1935 in Dardanelle and was the daughter of the late Clyde and Eulene Haynes Pool. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church in Tillar. Mrs. Aaron passed away September 3, 2014 in McGehee. Her parents and husband, William “Bill” Aaron, Sr preceded her in death.
Survivors are one son, Russ Aaron of Tillar; daughters, Debra Dean of Florence and Fitchy Posey of Tillar; three brothers, George Paul Lowery of Texas, Ted Lowery of Mer Rouge, Louisiana and Marvin Lowery of Bastrop, Louisiana and a sister, Ruth Outlaw of Bastrop, Louisiana; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 4, 2014. Funeral services held Friday, September 5, at 2:00 pm, First Baptist Church in Tillar with Rev. Dennis Green officiating and burial in Jefferson Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Tillar, Arkansas. Arrangements are by Griffin Funeral Home, Dumas, Arkansas.
