2 Weevils Sign To Play Pro Football

The University of Arkansas at Monticello football program saw two standout athletes, Jalen Tolliver and Jeremy Jackson, receive opportunities to continue playing football at the next level.
Jalen, a senior from Rayville, Louisiana, earned himself an undrafted priority free agent deal with the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League after his stellar career at UAM.Tolliver was named to the 2017 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America Team, and also has picked up a Don Hansen First Team All-Region pick, First Team D2CCA All-Region selection, and a Second Team D2CCA All-America selection as well this past year. He was tabbed as a unanimous All-Great American Conference selection, and selected as the GAC Offensive Player of the Year as well.
Jalen concluded the 2017 season with record breaking career totals at Arkansas-Monticello, as he broke both the all-time receiving yards and all-time receiving touchdown records this year.
He was also tied for first in the nation in receiving touchdowns, and 12th overall in the country in receiving yards. Jalen finished first overall in the GAC in receiving yards (1,109), receiving touchdowns (16), total receptions (67), receptions per game (6.1), and receiving yards per game (100.8).
Jeremy, a senior from Hahnville, Louisiana, signed with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League after his outstanding season at the defensive back position.
Jackson was also named to the 2017 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-American Team, along with earning a First Team Don Hansen All-Region nod, and was selected as a Second Team D2CCA All-Region member, and a First Team All-GAC pick.
The former running-back turned cornerback, anchored the defensive secondary for UAM this past season as Jeremy not only led the GAC in total passes defended (18), but ranked tied for fourth in the nation in the stat category as well. Jackson also finished fifth on the team in total tackles with 40, and was tied for first on the squad in interceptions (2) as well.
“Incredibly proud of both Jeremy and Jalen,” head football coach Hud Jackson discussed. “These two young men have worked extremely hard to each get to the next level in the sport that they love, and each will continue seeing success both on and off the field.”
