May 20, 2012
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Dept., two children, ages 9 and 10, were seriously injured in a boating accident, Saturday just before noon, when they were being towed behind their grandparent’s boat, near Lake Langhofer and Pine Bluff’s Regional Park.
Other sources report that both girls are 4th grade students at schools in Drew County.
The 911 call came in at 11:53, reporting the accident, where the operator of an oncoming boat, looked away for a moment, felt that he had hit a large wave, and saw both children in the water, and the raft that they were on was airborne.
As of Sunday evening, one girl remained in Jefferson Regional Medical Center, and the other girl had been airlifted to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, where she remained in ICU.
