Appleberrys of Tillar Selected Drew County’s Farm Family of the Year

The Appleberrys raise soybeans, rice, and corn on 3,400 acres. Some of acreage has been in their family for 74 years. They also raise cattle
Frank has been actively farming for 36 years and is joined on the farm by son Jacob. Daughter, Kinnsey is an Integrated Solution Consultant at Arkansas Ag. Wife Judy is a homemaker.
Jacob’s wife Carrie is a third grade teacher for the Dumas Public School District.
Frank is also a Justice of the Peace for Drew County, serves as the President of the Tillar Cemetery Association, a member of the Drew County NRSC, Tillar United Methodist Church Board, Secretary/Treasure for the McGehee Producers Gin, and Ducks Unlimited District Chairman.
The Appleberry Family is very active in Arkansas Ducks Unlimited, the Tillar United Methodist Church, and the Tillar Volunteer Fire Department where Frank is the Chief and Jacob is Captain. Jacob is also a member of the County Farm Bureau Board. Carrie is a member of the Dumas Women’s Service League. Kinnsey serves as a Ducks Unlimited Greenwing Camp Counselor. Judy has played the piano at the families’ church for 20 years.

As the Drew County Farm Family of the Year, the Appleberry family will join 74 other county farm families in vying for district and state recognition as the Arkansas Farm Family of the Year. The Arkansas Farm Family of the Year will be announced in December at a banquet at the Wyndham Riverfront in North Little Rock.
First established in 1947, Arkansas’ Farm Family of the Year program is the longest running effort of its kind in the nation. The program sponsors are Arkansas Farm Bureau, Farm Credit Services of Western Arkansas, Farm Credit Midsouth, ACA, AgHeritage Farm Credit Services and the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas, with the cooperation of the program partners Arkansas Press Association, University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency, USDA Rural Development, the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service, Arkansas Department of Workforce Education and the Arkansas Agriculture Department.
