14-Wheeler Failure

February 7th, 2014 by

imageAround 1:30 Friday morning, this Dillard big rig experienced a headlight failure, Causing the driver to slow down, and begin to stop.
Seconds later, the headlights came back on, allowing him to see he was crossing HWY 35, and no longer on I-530.

The driver attempted to turn left, but the weight of the trailer carried it into the tree line, across the highway.
Drew County sheriffs deputies worked the accident. The driver was not injured. Reliable Towing removed the rig from the trees.

The trailer involved was a “piggyback” trailer, often pulled in pairs by one tractor.

His brakes must have failed as well, you can see that stop sign from a long way off.

I’m glad he’s ok. Hwy dept needs to do something about this spot. Vehicles go off in trees often here. They don’t see stop sign in time.
