Assault at Walmart Leads to Attempted Murder Charge

At approximately 11:00pm on June 5th, the Monticello Police Department was dispatched to Wal-Mart concerning an assault.
Officers arrived on scene and were directed to row 4 by witnesses to a victim in a white pickup.
Officers met the victim standing outside his vehicle with a cut to his neck. Officers asked the victim if he knew who assaulted him, but he did not know the suspect. The victim was transported to Drew Memorial Hospital, by ambulance, where he was treated with 15 staples, before being released.
Several witnesses on scene stated that they saw the suspect go to the victim’s truck and open the door then walked into Wal-Mart.
Officers got a description of the suspect and a witness saw him come out the exit door. Officers approached the suspect and ordered him to the ground. The suspect was taken into custody and is currently housed at the Drew County Jail.
The suspect is Christopher Barfield, 25 years of age of Monticello. He is currently on parole.
Barfield is currently facing potential charges of Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder , Aggravated Assualt , Battery 1st Degree

Lord have mercy–is Monticello gonna be another crime town such as Pine
Bluff–seems no one is safe any more no matter where they go–looks like best thing to do is lock doors as soon as one gets into the auto—I hope the book is thrown at this thug.
