$100,000 Bond for Felon Fighting at Fairgrounds & Fighting with Deputies

According to Sheriff Mark Gober, on Sunday, March 11th at approximately 1:00 AM, Drew County Sheriff’s Deputies were notified that an officer needed assistance with a fight that had occurred after a fraternity party at the Drew County Fairgrounds.
Deputies at the fairgrounds observed Christopher Washington, 19 of Crossett, fighting with another individual. Washington began resisting authorities as they tried to restrain him. Washington tried to flee deputies and then turned and struck one of the deputies. Washington was restrained and transported to the Drew County Detention Facility.
He was charged with assaulting an officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, battery 3rd degree, and fleeing. Washington was taken for a first appearance before District Court Judge Ken Harper who gave him a $100,000 bond. Washington remains in jail on a parole hold, as well as the bond.

$100,000 bond wow thats a little steep. Since the guy accused of murdering his kid only got a $50,000 dollar bond. Guess this cat shouldn’t have been a black guy. What he did was wrong no doubt but, $100,000 thats a little much.
He should not have assault a deputy! race has nothing to do with it.
My thought exactly Brad $100,000 bond you got to be kidding. Here are people killing people & get less than that!!! Only in Drew!!!
do some research. he was on parole out of ADC. Never should have been let out. If you can’t stay out of trouble then you should get a high bond especially if you are a fleeing risk because he knows he is about to have to go back now.
You said it right, Brad. He was ACCUSED of killing his son. Not guilty, ACCUSED. Why should he get a steep bond when he is still innocent. That is the law, innocent until PROVEN guilty. So I think the 50,000 dollar bond is perfectly legit. Then you throw out the race card. He is guilty of assaulting someone, trying to run from arrest, and when they finally caught the “cat” (as you would say) he tried to restrain from being arrested. There were people present who witnessed these things. The man is guilty. So, I say, either let him come up with the money, or sit there. In the mean time, everyone shouldn’t comment on something they havent given half a though about. And as inquiring mind says “only in Drew”……It’s a whole lot worse in a whole lot of other places. Be proud of where you live, and what they stand for, or get the hell out.

Well yeah 100,000. Sure that’s a lot but I’m BLACK & I say that’s what he gets. He was already on probation so he haven’t learned amythng from that. Yeah a lot of people get a smaller bond for things we see as being wrost. But no sin is greater than the other. And we as BLACK PEOPLE need to STOP blaming others for the stupid & irresponsible things that OUR YOUNG BLACK kids are doing.
One I’m not black. Two I never said that what he is ACCUSED of doing was right. Three there should have been a no bond if he did violate his parole. But, since he is ACCUSED of doing these things he is innocent until PROVEN guilty. I just think its funny that this young man as the book thrown at him already. But, the ACCUSED murders, rapist, and the drug dealers in Drew County get bonds equal too or less then this guy that is ACCUSED of stricking a police office.
I believe if an individual strikes any public servant the bond should be substantial regardless of the persons race. These men and women put their lives on the line everyday for the citizens of this community and this kind of behavior should not be tolerated. If you want to play the race card, I think you should get the facts first because it is my understanding that the officer who was struck was also of African American decent. In my opinion, when a parolee violates their parole they should be the first felon who is taking up bed space at our local Detention Facility to be transferred back to prison. And being intoxicated is no excuse for anyone and much less a convicted felon on parole to behave this way. If this man is found guilty of this charge I personally would like to see a maximum sentence added on top of his original sentence and run it consecutive. Drew County Jurors need to start sending a message to those who have no concern for the law or the citizens of this community.

This guy got more then the accused rapist and murder. I mean come on I would rather this guy out then the other two.
Brad, this young man is 19 an has more of a wrap sheet then others. Yes it is a little steep but the sheriffs office didn’t set the bond amount the judge did. I bet it was set that high because of his parole violation. He is well know around Ashley county for a lot of things and it’s not because he sang to loud in church.
Ok people lets get real I spent 26 years working in law enforcement and every case is diffrent even in Drew County for one you don’t know this mans past race doesn’t pay a part in bond hearings, its your past criminal history so with that in mind he prolly got the bond he deserved. Also I can remember when it was a feleony to strike a police officer. Police Officers in Drew County are amoung the lowest paid in the state but they still put their life on the line everyday when they put on that uniform to protect the people of this county so the next time you see one of our officers tell them thank you for doing their job. You should contact the Courim Court members and demand that they pay these deputies a better wage. A county the size of Drew should have at least 15 deputies not 5 or 6 to cover the county 24 hours a day. Do the people of Drew County know that on any given day after 4:30 there are 2 deputies covering approximately 850 square miles in the county so dont blame the deputy next time it takes him 20 to 30 min to show up on a call if you need him cause he doing the best he can to get there.
i dont know how many police was there but he is blessed to not also have aggravated assault of a police officer on him thats a charge that can give him alot of time by itself. he has to groww up and become wise because right now he is foolish
